Have you seen the mast on the hill to the north of Trispen? It is measuring wind speed for Coronation Power.  Click here to see their proposal.

These are the questions local people are asking

How big will they be?  400 ft…. 150 ft taller than Truro Cathedral  How close will the be? 420m to the nearest home, and 1.5km to the furthest part of St Erme. Why are they building them here?  Because the land owner has agreed to let them, despite the noise and vibration related health fears. This cannot be done in Europe or in Scotland where they must be 2km from people’s homes. How much money is the power company going to make? £3-4 million revenue each year depending on how windy it is. Paid for by you in your electricity bill. How much money will stay in Cornwall? The bulk of the money never comes to Cornwall. The developer is London based. The land owner gets perhaps 4-6% (£120,000-£240,000) per year. How much will my electricity bill go down? It will not.  How do I help the power company make lots of money?   By doing nothing .... they are depending on it. How much money do I lose? If you own your home you will lose about a third of its value, perhaps more, if you live in Trispen, St Erme, Truthan or St Allen.

The planning application has been submitted.  If you want to object now is time.  Advice on how to object can be found by following this link.

The last day for submitting objection letters has been moved back to May 29th

A jumbo jet's wingspan is substantially smaller than the blade span of these enormous machines. Clearly they will have a big impact on the lives of villagers, but they will also frame a visitor's entrance to Truro... welcome to Truro Turbine city. You will be able to see the 60 metre mast next to the A39, we have superimposed pictures of 2 Turbines at roughly twice that height to give a feel for the impact seen from the road outside the Honda garage... but remember the developer wants to build 7 Turbines.

Planning Progress

The 15 Turbines at Carland Cross are 49 metres high.  Plans to increase their height to 100 metres, and substantially expand the ground they cover, was initially turned down by the council, but the developer is planning to appeal.

The Trispen development is the next stage towards Turbine in-fill. The new machines will be taller still.  The Four Burrows Turbines are also in sight. What other county town will be circled by Turbines? Welcome to Truro... Cornwall's Turbine Capital.

Seven 400ft-high Turbines are industrial-sized structures with no place here. They will ruin the backdrop of the village, dwarf us all and spoil many peoples' views. Want to see more?... follow this link

The developer and landowners stand to make a great deal of money from this development... millions... so they are very well organised and well financed. Coronation Power say that they have already invested £500,000 preparing this planning application.

The planning application has been made. There will be only one chance to say NO and that time is coming. Now is the time to object, for advice on how to do this follow this link.

Noise

House Prices

People that live close to Turbines say they reduce their quality of life. A big problem is the noise they make. Some say it sounds like living in a broken down washing machine. Hear what misery they create for yourself.

Coronation Power propose the largest Turbines in the UK within 2 kilometres from 1,300 residents of Trispen and St Erme, and considerably less from some who may be as close as 420 metres.

Why should we be made to take risks with our health... . Read more... follow this link.

The Turbine developers claim that the construction of Turbines near peoples' homes will have little adverse impact on property prices. Does that seem likely to you?

We believe our houses will be devalued. Would you choose to live near seven 400 foot Turbines? Most buyers will not.

The developer will spend his millions out of the county. He lives in London and his consultants are Oxford based. Trispen will become Turbine Town, and  the local community will pay the price.

Flicker Effect

Threat to Wildlife

When the sun is behind the Turbine blades an unpleasant strobe effect results, falling across roads, peoples’ gardens and into their houses. Coronation Power agree this is an issue... they advised one local person “to close the curtains”!

Do you want to live behind curtains?

Take a look a some video footage of Flicker Effect

Birds and bats are killed by Turbine blades. This rural area is full of both. Coronation Power advised a Trispen inhabitant “buzzards only fly below 20 metres” (below the level of the blades)...

They do not appear to be country people. Have they told our buzzards?
