The Trispen Turbines will be much bigger than those currently installed at Carland Cross. Two and half times bigger... they will be some of the tallest structures in Cornwall. Coronation Power's plan to build 120 metre / 400 foot Turbines. These machines will make Trispen look industrial. Here is an example
This is not an artificial picture. It show a 110 metre turbine in Scotland built 0.8 miles away from the centre of a village. As you can see, it has quite an impact on the village. It is difficult to be sure about what the Trispen Turbines will look like precisely, but the mast gives us a guide. It is 60 metres tall, half the height of the proposed Turbines. If they they are located on the same hill as the mast they would look like this.
Unlike the developer, 2big2close cannot afford sophisticated photo-montage pictures. This is our interpretation of what the turbines might look like based on the 60 metre mast. The scaling might not be totally accurate, and we are not clear on their exact location. If in doubt, ask the developer for a professionally prepared ‘wire frame’ picture. You may know that the residents of St. Newlyn East expect Scottish Power to apply to increase the size of the Carland Cross Turbines. They are not happy about this. They have created the diagrams below to compare the current 49 metre / 161 foot Turbines with the potential replacements at St. Newlyn East. As you can see the result is a little scary. Coronation Power say they want to install 120 metre Turbines. These structures will be 150 foot taller than Truro Cathedral.
It is not just the height, the span of these large Turbines dwarfs the machines installed at Carland Cross. The wing span of a Jumbo Jet are substantially smaller than the blade span of the proposed machines. Again these diagrams are taken from the St. Newlyn East Residents Against Turbines website.
