Trispen and St Erme will become a Turbine Town
if the planned development goes through. Not only will our homes be devalued
but our whole village and the entire parish and environment will be too. Turbine developers claim that the construction of Turbines near peoples' homes has little adverse impact on property prices. Do you think that sounds likely? Would you want to live next to a 400 foot Turbine, or live in open country? Take a look at this photo of Trispen with 2 Turbines pictured superimposed and scaled to that part of the wind measuring mast that is just visible in the middle of the picture.
Which houses do you think are worth more? The huge scale of public subsidy, and ability for huge development in open countryside has attracted some of the richest investors on earth to the Wind Turbine speculation. In the UK, the system of subsidy is very complicated. The energy industry do not like the word subsidy, they prefer to call it a Renewal Obligation Certificate or ROC. What ever you call it, it comes to the same thing, only half of the Power company revenue comes from selling electricity, the rest comes from a ROC or subsidy. Take a look at this promotional video created by T-Boone Pickens, the oil tycoon, to persuade landowners to allow Turbines to be built on their land in exchange for huge financial gain. He accept Turbines are "an eye sore" but they create "a lot of revenue" for the land owner. Listen for yourself
In short, it will be the local residents that will pay, and landowners and developers that take the money. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) say that terraced houses and semi-detached houses lose 54% and 35% of their value respectively, when a wind farm is placed within one mile. This impact is most pronounced in the planning period. If you live in Trispen, St Erme or St Allen, Coronation Power and the landowners have already devalued your home.
